Defend the view that technology has been either good or bad for the TV industry.

Defend the view that technology has been either good or bad for the TV industry.

I personally think that technology in the TV industry as had a negative effect.

Convergence is the joining of two texts onto one device, for example, Xbox 360 has now given you the opportunity to watch tele on the device through BBC Iplayer and 4OD. Therefore, questioning the necessity of a television, making costumers think of alternative ways of watching television without the use of a tele.  Even though a television is still used to play consoles, there are also alternatives to these as well, such as computer screens and projectors.  This has therefore created a fragmented market for televisions.

  1. Your response it quite short here, but you made some attempt to support your view with evidence. You need to refer to your case studies, though. Can you find evidence (viewing figures, for example) to support your view that Strictly/Homeland have been negatively affected by technology?

Can you also see the other side of the argument? Do these programmes rely on technolgy (social networking etc) to build stronger audiences and achieve success?
