The scene I'm going to talk about is the opening scene from I Am Legend. Its about Will Smith driving around a deserted New York city trying to find an animal to hunt.
The first shot that appears on the screen is a long road going between huge buildings. The sun (natural light) lights up the road leaving a low key lighting effect with huge shadows covering the road. This creates a really natural and realistic effect.
As the roads has not been used for years plant growth has appeared through them making them seem really dark and gloomy portraying the fact that they have been stranded and rarely used.
The car he is driving is a bright red colour which stands out in the dark city. Almost lighting up the shot.
All the buildings paint has peeled away leaving a very dull colour underneath, this sets the scene for the whole film.
There are also parts of the city that are very open, this leaves a high key lighting effect by leaving no shadows, this allows you to really take in the environment in which he is living in.
